About the Filmmakers

Director

An independent filmmaker from the Detroit area who has been fascinated by cameras, history, and storytelling since childhood. Reading about the tumultuous events occurring simultaneously in Southeast Michigan in the late 1960s gripped me and I spent 6 years researching and independently producing this documentary: a true passion project, with the goal of telling this largely forgotten true-crime story in an engaging, informative, and respectful way.

Producer

Best friends with Director Andrew Templeton since 3rd Grade, Rachel has been active in the documentary's process since the beginning, being a vital sounding board and support for this enriching passion project. An avid true crime podcast listener and a native Michigander now living in Indianapolis, the story surrounding these murders intrigued Rachel and peaked her interest to be more involved. This is her first experience in film production and is excited to contribute her personal expertise.

Producer

Josh has had a lifelong interest in impactful storytelling through film. Chicago-based, but born and raised in Michigan, Josh's personal connection to the state has led him to collaborate with director Andrew Templeton on this independent film. Since the third grade, Josh and Andrew's friendship was cemented over a love of creating fun and imaginative movies together. Josh believes that projects like this serve a critical purpose in our society: "By shedding light on the conditions that allowed these crimes to occur, we can shift the focus from glorifying the killer to promoting understanding of the complex factors that contribute to criminal behavior." Through his work on this project, Josh hopes to spark meaningful conversations and contribute to the ongoing dialogue surrounding crime prevention and social justice.

Forensic Consultant

Ami Attee is a forensic consultant on this documentary after getting a Master's in Anthropology with a concentration in forensics from Wayne state University in 2014. They have also taken courses at the "Body Farm" at the University of Tennessee, worked at the Wayne County Medical Examiners Office and volunteered with the FBI for unidentified homicide victims. Ami's interest in the case goes back to their mother going to Eastern during this time and hearing stories of how their mother's friend dated John Norman Collins. (She turned him down for a date on his motorcycle on a cold night, he got mad and she broke up with him on the spot - he was caught shortly thereafter!). Despite having a background in all things macabre, Ami is also a talented artist with their cat and four turtles living in Ypsilanti.
